Greece today and what it was

Greece is a country rich in history, culture, and a wonderful place to visit. I have experienced this country and I will tell you about it later in the article.

Fun facts about Greece

Greece is a country located in the Balkans. Greece’s land mass is 50,949 sq miles (131957 sq kilometers) including thousands of islands across the Mediterranean to Türkiye. Greece’s main climate has hot, dry summers and cool, damp winters. The capital of Greece, Athens, lives in the southeast of Greece. The main language they speak there is called Greek while their main religion is Christianity which began all the way back around the first century.

What is Greece’s history?

Greece dates back all the way to 776 BC. It started as numerous people resided around Southeastern Europe, living in small villages. The villages began to develop, becoming the Ancient Greece we know today. The Greek empire fought against the Roman empire three times, the first war starting at 217 to 205 BC and the last war starting at 171 to 168 BC. Greece then fell to Rome using a divide and conquer strategy.

Another thing I find interesting about Greece is their mythology. Greek mythology is very interesting in my opinion. It was their religion. Their mythology involved gods, monsters, and a variety of other creatures. Many popular fantasy themes are from Greek mythology. However some mythology has some truth in it. An example of this is the famous legend of Greece’s attack of Troy which is historically accurate.

My perspective of Greece

What I think about Greece is that the ruins are really fascinating.  They were my favorite part of Greece. For example, the fortress I visited had really old pieces of broken marble and very fascinating architecture. I also visited an ancient Greek theater that was so well preserved you can use it today. Greece is also famous for its Mediterranean food. The food is very similar to Turkish cuisine which came from the Ottoman Empire.

Overall I think Greece is a perfect spot for vacations. Learning about its rich history is another great option. There are a variety of options to choose from. Greece is a very entrancing country.
