Glass-z13

Glass-z13 is a Lyman-break galaxy and is known as the oldest galaxy created 300 million years after the Big Bang. Glass-z13 was discovered by NASA’s James Webb telescope. Glass-z13 weighs as much as 1 billion suns and contains about a billion stars. Regardless of the mass of Glass-z13, the size of Glass-z13 is actually smaller than the Milky Way galaxy, but is still about 1,600 light-years across. Glass-z13 is shown to be about 13.4 billion light-years away from Earth. This means that the galaxy is probably no longer in existence, but sometimes you might wonder what it was like when the galaxy was in existence.

Because it is so far away, there is not much information about this galaxy, overall the telescopes we use don’t have the advancements we need to take a really good look at Glass-z13. But maybe, when we upgrade our telescopes, we might get a better look at the ancient galaxy.
