The Star Wars universe has two classifications known as “canon” and “legends”. According to the Oxford Dictionary, canon is defined as a list of books or other works that are generally accepted as the genuine work of a particular writer or as being important. Both of them are similar, except that the canon timeline is currently owned by Disney. Disney can exclude and create Star Wars content, leading the canon timeline to part ways with the legends timeline. This angers some Star Wars fans.
Disney partially ruined Star Wars by creating a new trilogy known as the sequel trilogy. Fans hate this trilogy because of inconsistency, weak material, and omitting the nostalgia of previous Star Wars trilogies. After the sequel trilogy, Disney made some television series, which actually did pretty well, but one Television series called the Acolyte got so much hate, it got discontinued. The Acolyte is poorly written, disappointing, didn’t fit with the Star Wars story, and it was difficult to find the main story line. The majority of the ratings were 1 star reviews and it even got the title of the worst Star Wars television series. To make matters worse, fans are walking away from the franchise because of Disney’s recent Star Wars stories. The Acolyte may be over, but the actions of Disney aren’t. Disney excluded some of the most liked Star Wars content from the canon timeline, including Knights of the Old Republic which is one of the best RPG games in the world. Because of Disney’s poor actions, fans are starting to wonder whether it is right for Disney to say what is canon or not.
Although Disney didn’t do a great job writing some of the Star Wars films, there are still some great Star Wars shows Disney made, such as the Mandalorian. However, there are many fans complaining about the deficiently written movies and TV shows Disney made and Disney doesn’t seem to listen to them. But if Disney does, Star Wars could return to the fascinating story it used to be.
