A Mysterious Possible Easter Egg in “A New Hope” No One Knew About

Throughout Star Wars, there are a lot of Easter Eggs (a hidden surprise or reference). When an Easter Egg gets found, it could become popular, but a few of the Easter Eggs are known by hardly anyone. In this article we will be discussing a possible hidden Easter Egg appearing in “A New Hope” no one knew about.

Episode IV – A New Hope starts off with a small cruiser attempting to escape from a larger cruiser. About 30 minutes after that scene, you see the protagonist Luke Skywalker on Tatooine after being attacked from a tribe of Tusken Raiders. A few seconds later you see Ben Kenobi walk towards Luke. If you carefully look at the very right of the screen after Ben Kenobi lowers his hood or before he says “Hello there”, you will notice a group of shapes carved into the sand behind the speeder (go to 30:18 and look behind the speeder for a clearer image). So far, we do not know what these shapes mean. Was it set up for the film or was it already there? What we know is this scene took place in Death Valley, California and according to Ohio State University, a group of Native American tribes lived in the area around the time of 7,000 BC. Could these be markings of ancient tribes? This could be one of the biggest mysteries in all of Star Wars.

Although we may never know what these shapes mean, this could be one of the most popular possible Easter Eggs in Star Wars.
